Technical Considerations
AnEnterasys NetworksMidSpanPowerHubmaybeplacedonashel formountedina
standard48.26centimeter(19inch)rack.
Beforeyoumount theunittoafixedlocation,considerthefollowing:
Determineoptimalplacement.
•Collectanddocumentnetworkinformationasrequired.
•EnsurethatthelengthofcablefromtheEthernet
networksourcetothepowe red
devicedoesnotexceed100meters.
•Theunitisintendedforinstallationinawiringcloset.
ConnecttheunittoagroundingtypeACoutlet(100240VAC),usingthestandard
powercordshippedwiththeunit,orausersuppliedUPS(uniterruptiblepower
supply).
•Allow
foreasyaccesstodisconnecttheunitfromtheACoutletifnecessary.
•Donotcovertheunitorblocktheairflowwithanyotherobjects.Keeptheunitaway
fromexcessiveheat,humidity,vibration,anddust.
•Ensurethatinstallationconformstolocalregulations.

(BL69524ENTshown)operatingwith802.3afappliances.ToensureEMCcomplianceand
compliancewithClass Arequirements,useCategory5,5e,or6shieldedtwistedpair
straightthroughcables.
Note: The units are not repeaters and do not amplify the Ethernet data signal.
